'That suddenly the bees are heard...' | Spring Beauty & Skincare

An old blog post I never posted on here back from 2 years ago haha. Read on...

I have a confession...
I'm a bit of a beauty novice really. But occassionally I get into the mood to slap on some makeup, and look half way decent. Spring is one of those times. There's something about longer days and the smell of grass that makes me want to look a bit more colourful and smell like flowers. So I thought I'd tell you about my favourite skincare/ beauty things for spring, if you're abit of a beauty fiend like me this could inspire you to embrace spring beauty a bit!

#1 The Fragance

Daisy by Marc Jacobs

I was very lucky to recieve this lovely smelling perfume for my 19th birthday (thanks mum!) a couple months ago and I have to say I was chuffed to bits. I've never had a 'grown-up' perfume before (just body shop ones and abit of charlie fragance, haha) so I was rather excited to try this one out. It's really light and fresh; perfect for spring and summer. It is a tad pricey but I'd say its well worth it. It makes you smell exactly like Parma Violets, you know the purple sweets. Exactly like them: heaven!

#2 The Nail Polish

I think most of you would have seen this coming. But these nail polishes deserve to be raved about! Taaa-dah the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine nail paint. This ones in Blueberry and it's a gorge perwinkle blue. Other popular colours include Lychee: a natural creamy biege and Prickly Pear: a beautiful lilac (I may cave and buy this..shh, don't tell anyone!).  The formula of these is brilliant however they don't have loads of staying power so I recommend a good top coat if you want to get your moneys worth. These beauts retail at £3.99.

#3 The Lippy

This will proably come as no surprise but generally I can be a bit of a cheapskate! I know, I know quality over quantity and all that jazz but I don't see why sometimes you can't have both. This lipstick is the perfect example. It's natural collection by boots and it only comes in at..wait for it...£1.99! cheap as chips (cheaper, if you go to a really fancy chip shop). I would say the quality is pretty good too, they last all day on me and their 'moiuster shine' formula is true to its name and doesn't dry out my lips to boot. This the shade biscuit and it's my fave of the lot, I think it really suits my skintone, but I'm sure it'll suit most of you lot too.

# The Blush

Now this may seem a little contradicting to what I said earlier about being a cheapskate, but somethings are worth the frankly hefty pricetag. Thus the blush I really loving for the warmer months has to be Springsheen by Mac. Even the name is perfect, its also really fun to say five times fast SpringsheenSpringsheenSpringsheen- ok I'll stop now! This blush is the perfect  peachy pink with shimmers of gold, but it isn't too shimmy.I would say it quite sheer but you can definitely build it up, it makes you look dewy but not like a walking piece of glitter. I wear this pretty much everyday hence why I'm very very close to being out. It's been well loved.

I hope you enjoyed this post! My next one will most likely be a fashion one, but you never know; if you have any suggestions to what you'd like to see on my blog whether it be reviews ( I have one in the works), outfits, lifestyle, tags or even a cheeky bit of beauty then let me know!

An Outfit of The Day and a Supermarket Escapade

Hello everyone :) Hope you had a lovely Easter!

I haven't really been up to much lately, just reading loads (not related to my course mind, terrible) and watching Doctor Who (I'm obsessed). Today I thought I'd give you a cheeky outfit of the day. It's not really very exciting as I was just going to pop to town with my lovely mum but I hope you like it. Sorry for the lack of face shots I am having a seriously bad hair day. One day I will learn to tame my mane, just not this day.

I have a MASSIVE pile of work I should be doing so I'm afraid there probably won't be many exciting lifestyle posts for a couple of weeks but once I get back to uni I promise to keep you throughly updated on goings on (there's never a dull moment!). For now lets get this show on the road...

The Outfit:

Zee Outfit:
Green (although it looks blue) Jumper ~ Zara
Bag ~ Primark
Skirt ~ Primark
Leggings ~ Sainsburys (Seriously the best leggings ever, so comfy)
Converse ~ Office
Necklace ~ Primark
Scarf ~ Mums

Here's a close up of my chipped nails and the beautiful ring I keep on banging on about!

The Supermarket Escapade:

Begged my mum for Dunkers,  guys they're on buy one get one free, GET INNN! Snack-food of my childhood right there.

In any shop I can find the sweet aisle instantly, maybe that's my superpower?

Orders from Amazon that have arrived, it's almost like Christmas, except I'm now 1/18th poorer. But look pretty books!

One does not simply leave the Haribo in Morrisons...I had to have them guys don't judge. Haribo and I go together like jam and peanut butter, marmite and toast. We are kin. Notice how all my similes are food related. I just really like food, ok! And Stationery...there's just something about have brand new highlighters (not even kidding).

I had far too much fun just hanging out with my madre and buying sweeties like the 5 year old I am inside. Ooh and I have just watched The Mindy Project on the telly and I really recommend it. It follows the life of Mindy; a doctor with an obsession with Rom-Coms and a penchant for sarcasm: my kinda gal. Possibly my favourite thing on telly at the mo, apart from Who of course. Right, those Haribos are looking mighty good...I may have to cheekily have a few. Hey it's Easter! it's practically eat what you want month. It's all good.

What have you guys been up to this Easter? Hope you've all had a good 'un. I'm sure you've all been way more productive that me! Let me know in the comments :)

Sinful Spending

Ok. If I had any doubts about my shopaholism they have been thoroughly and duely disspelled. Gurl. I have problems. At Uni miraculously I don't really shop that much, this is mostly because I resent paying the fare to town (I can't be alone in this cheapskateness surely? A whole quid! That could be spent on Mc Donalds fries) and I'm always too busy having fun hanging out with my hallmates or else having my head firmly in my Bronte course reading (which reminds me I have to reread Jane Eyre before next week...). Thus when faced with the task of saving for my holiday and volunteering in the Summer I foolishly though it would easy. I convinced myself I had cured my spending bug and I was the Queen of saving.
How very very naive I was. One week back in London and I have been to the paradoxal heaven and hell that is Primark, not once but twice! I know. It's an illness. But good ol' Primark have seriously stepped up their game (and their prices, mind you, tut, tut!) for SS/2013. So I thougth I'd show you guys what I purchased before I ban myself from spending more money on beautiful, beautiful clothes.

Fine Knit Oversized 'Bat Wing' Cardi ~ Primark £10
Hamsa Hand Long Necklace ~ Primark £2
Selection of earrings ~ Primark £2.50

Flowery Dress with crochet empire line ~ Primark £10
Floral Canvas Purse ~ Primark £4
White Pemplum Tee ~ Primark £4

Mint Green Cardi ~ Primark £4.90 (Sale!)
White Short-Sleeved Body~ Primark £5

Mint Green Bobbly Fine Knit Jumper ~ Primark £6
Blue stone ring ~ Primark £2 (Possibly my favourite thing ever!)
Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in BlueBerry ~  Superdrug £3.99

All these buys are oodly girly for me, my style is definitely changing and I think I like it! Any of these bits and bobs catch your eye? I'm thinking of doing a 'Handbag Must-Haves' type post and some general lifestyle posts this week if anyone's interested. I'm keen to know if anyone would like any outfit posts too.
Hope you're all having a jolly good evening/ early morning, is that really the time? Big love.

Spring it on me Mr. Sunshine

Can I be honest with you? I'm not a massive fan of Spring ...or Summer for that matter.
I know, I know. How heinous and ridculous of me. I just love Winter; cosy socks, wrapping up warm when it's cold outside, Christmas, an excuse to gorge on Hot Chocolate and CAKE, massive scarfs, staying in and watching crappy TV. All of that is just divine to me. Whereas Summer is so...sticky.
However, this year I'm a changed woman! I can't wait for a bit of Sun, a good holiday and twister ice lolly. I don't know what has happened to me. So with this new found yearning for Mr.Sunshine to make a long-awaited appearance comes an equally pressing yearning for some Springy clobber that I probably don't need. But hey, we're all human, besides it's pretty.

Thus my Spring wishlist has sprung into life...Yeah, I'll get my coat. Terrible jokes aside is there anything you lovely lot are drooling over for Spring? I'd love to know!

Spring it on me.

Hello Blog!

Hello Blogosphere, ain't it been a while?

I can't believe just how fast time flys. Back two years ago I started this blog the Summer before I went to sixth form. I was just starting my A levels. I was awkward. I was terrified of what the future held. I had braces (yes guys, braces ARE that tramatic). I had dreams of one day going to a good university to study the thing that I can't live without, English. And now I'm here. Braces free (finally!) having the best year of my life, with new friends and new interests at University.
I'd completely forgotten that I'd even made this blog until today! It's so surreal (and cringey haha) reading things 17 year old me wrote...the odd thing is actually I'm really not that different to how I was then, I still want to write about life through my eyes, hopefully at least one person will enjoy it. Except now I can blog about much more (hopefully!) interesting things. Yep, I've decided to give this blogging lark another go. So what can you expect from Elsewhere Avenue? Well for the most part fashiony stuff and ton of random ramble about what I've been up to and uni life...oh and an indecent number of pictures of food. Because, hey,who doesn't like food? Stick around for more!
If you want to know more about me, shimy on down to my 'About Me' section. Hope you're all having the loveliest of days!
